Congratulations to the debate team on an outstanding second place finish at the Iowa High School Speech Association State Debate tournament which was held virtually Jan. 8-9. Juniors Zach Harnden and Christopher Pierson finished as state champions in Public Form Debate, going undefeated through nine debates, and James Piazza was named top speaker in the category of Lincoln-Douglas Debate. Next up, the entire speech and debate team will compete to qualify for nationals on Feb. 12-13. Best of luck!
On Tuesday night the boys swim team and girls and boys basketball teams faced the Valley Tigers in what turned out to be three exciting match-ups. The Maroons came out on top in basketball with the boys defeating valley 56-51 and the girls winning 51-48 on a last second shot by junior Emma Gipple.
