Maroon Fund
Every day at Dowling Catholic, students grow in faith, learn from dedicated teachers, build lifelong friendships, and discover who God is calling them to be. The Maroon Fund is the foundation of this. It supports the people, programs, and resources that create an exceptional educational experience developing Leaders for Life, Centered on Christ.
While the State of Iowa Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) have helped make Catholic education more affordable and greatly reduced families’ out-of-pocket tuition costs, they do not cover the full cost of tuition at Dowling Catholic or the true cost of educating a student. That is why the Maroon Fund is essential.
What Goes Into the Cost of Education?
The cost of educating one student includes so much more than classes. It also supports:

The Full Cost of Education
For the 2026–27 school year, tuition and fees for a participating student total $12,030, while the estimated true cost to educate one student at Dowling Catholic High School is $15,346. That leaves a funding gap of $3,316 per student.
That remaining gap represents the resources needed to sustain the full Dowling Catholic experience—supporting exceptional teachers, safe and welcoming facilities, faith formation, innovative classrooms, and opportunities that help every student thrive. The Des Moines Region Catholic School Corporation’s (the “Region”), Catholic schools, under the aegis of the Bishop, state that all of the Region’s Catholic schools admit students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the schools. These schools do not discriminate on the basis of race, age, disability, color, and national or ethnic origin in the administration of their educational policies, employment practices, scholarship and loan programs, athletic or other school-administered programs. The employment relationship between the Region and its employees is governed by canon law as well as civil law. As religious institutions, nothing in the Iowa Code and this policy shall be construed as prohibiting the Region’s Catholic schools from imposing qualifications based on religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity when such qualifications are related to a bona fide religious purpose. In addition, schools shall comply with the anti-bullying/anti-harassment laws of the state of Iowa, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act as such may apply to the Region’s Catholic schools.
