Michael McCoy '81

Distinguished Alumnus
Michael Loras McCoy ’81 is a 1981 graduate of Dowling Catholic High School who earned his degree from Wichita State University in 1985. He has built a distinguished career with Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services, Inc., where he currently serves as Area President for the state of Iowa. Throughout his career, Michael has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication, qualifying for Gallagher’s prestigious President’s Club for sales achievement an impressive twenty-four consecutive years.
 
Beyond his professional success, Michael has achieved extraordinary distinction in the world of amateur golf. A highly competitive golfer, he has been named Iowa Golfer of the Year a record eleven times and is a member of the Iowa Golf Hall of Fame. His accomplishments on the national stage include winning the 2013 United States Mid-Amateur Championship, competing in the 2014 Masters Tournament, and capturing the 2025 United States Senior Amateur Championship. He was also a member of the 2015 United States Walker Cup Team and went on to serve as Captain of the 2023 United States Walker Cup Team. In recognition of his remarkable career, Michael was inducted into the National Senior Golf Hall of Fame in 2023.
 
Michael and his wife, Tana, are the proud parents of four children: Nathaniel, Megan, Daniel, and Erin.
