Swimming
Bill was a four year varsity swimmer who helped his team to four consecutive state championships. He was state runner-up in the 100 breaststroke his senior year which set a new school record. He was also part of a medley relay team that set a new school record the same year. Bill also excelled in academics and was a member of the National Honor Society and an Aquinas Key and Academic Letter recipient. 

He also swam for a local team and a travel team and has a trophy case full of memories. He earned his Eagle Scout Award in 2002, using his project to raise money and complete enhancements for the Camp Sunnyside swimming facilities. 

Bill continued his swimming career at the University of Missouri Rolla where he participated in the NCAA national championships all four years and helped his team to a fourth place finish in 2007. He was recognized twice by ESPN The Magazine as Academic All-American Team Member of the Year and once as Academic All-American Athlete of the Year. At the conclusion of his college career he had earned ten All-American swims and four Academic All-American recognitions. 

He graduated with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and accepted an assistantship at Iowa State University where he earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. He currently lives in Ames, Iowa, and works for Syngenta as a technical analyst.
