Raymond Metz: Head Track Coach/ Assistant Football Coach/ Theology Teacher
Raymond Metz is native to Des Moines, Iowa. He is a 1985 Dowling High School Graduate. After High school Ray received his Business Degree at Upper Iowa University in 1995 and did his graduate degree work at Loyola Chicago. Ray received his master in Pastoral Studies in 1997. Before coming to Dowling Ray worked for the Diocese of Des Moines as a staff member for the St. Thomas More Center. In 1995, Ray was hired as Director of Youth Ministry for Holy Family Parish in Keota, Iowa. While in Keota, Ray became an assistant track coach for Keota High School. In 2000 Ray accepted a position at Dowling High school as a teacher and football coach. Ray joined the girls track staff in 2002, and became the Head Boys track coach in 2007. In 2009 Ray was named Regional Coach of the year for the state of Iowa, when the Dowling Boys finish in 4th place at the state track meet. Last year the Dowling Boys track team won the Conference Championship, something that hadn’t been done in over a decade and was also named Conference coach of the year. During his 4 years of head boys track coach Ray has coached 1 state champion athlete, 5 elite all state athletes, and 6 all state athletes. Ray and his wife, Kim, have two children, Nathan, and Gabby and reside in Urbandale.
