A little stress helps us to stay focused and alert. Too much stress can keep us from doing and feeling our best.
Whenever you’re under a lot of stress, make sure that you get enough sleep, that you eat right, and that you get enough exercise. Physical activity can actually reduce stress.
Spend time with family and friends and talk about what causes your stress. Talking helps put things in perspective.
Also, try to keep a sense of humor, and take time for those things that have helped you feel calm and relaxed in the past (e.g., listen to music, go for a walk).
If you are ever under so much stress that you can’t sleep or eat, or that you feel depressed, talk to a parent or to your counselor. They can help!
