Swimmers & Divers, are you ready? I hope you are!! This letter contains a lot of information about the season. If you have any questions after reading it, please contact me!
Information to be discussed at the meeting:
Athletic Director
Dowling Catholic Athletic Director, Mike Ketcham, will be in attendance to discuss the Student Handbook, the Maroon Athletic Booster Club, and Athletic Department procedures and expectations. His attendance at this meeting replaces the Fall Sports Meeting that has been held in past years.
Team Captains
Anna, Gabby and Lauren (with the help of the rest of the seniors) have chosen an awesome team suit and designed cool team t-shirts & sweatpants. Additionally, Action Accents has assembled options for “equipment bags” for those who wish to purchase and have their own equipment to use during the season. There will be order forms for apparel items and equipment bags available at the picnic. Action Accents will be at the picnic and the first day of practice to get girls suit sizes. Apparel money is due by the end of the first week of practice. However, please pay for these at the picnic if you can. Make apparel checks out to IMPACT Apparel and equipment bag checks out to Action Accents and give to Coach Lake with your order forms.
Team Suits: Required. Paid for by the Athletic Department.
Team Apparel: Optional. Paid for by each athlete family.
Equipment Bags: Optional. Paid for by each athlete family.
Team Parents
The Gaulke’s, Gleichman’s and Nelson’s (with the help of the rest of the senior parents) will be discussing the areas families are being asked to volunteer. Our team’s success depends upon our athletes’ families giving of their time. There will be several opportunities in the following areas: Bulletin Boards, Clean Up At All Events, Daily Breakfasts, Event Breakfasts, Home Meet Help, Locker Parents, Media Collecting, Pasta Dinners, Picture Taking, Senior Night Dinner, Team Banquet, Team Video.

The State of Iowa mandates that students must be passing ALL classes in order to be eligible to participate in high school athletics. At Dowling Catholic this also includes RAC. This “no pass – no play” stance went into effect July 2006. For specifics on these rules, please go to the Iowa Department of Education website. You should also review academic eligibility rules as defined by Dowling Catholic at the school website.
