Dowling Catholic Athletic Hall of Fame

2011 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees

At Homecoming, on Friday, September 30^th, we honored six Dowling alumni who were inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame.

The inductees are:

Mark Amadeo `80

Jimmer Dorweiler `03

Lynndi (Decker) Koester `04

Frank C. Lavia, Jr. `66

Frank Schweizer, Coach
Ally Thrall `04

The honored alumni were introduced at the Pep Assembly, then joined the Dowling Catholic community at a tailgate sponsored by the DCHS Parents’ Guild and were recognized in a pre-game, on-field presentation at Drake Stadium.

We then enjoyed the Varsity win over Ankeny!

Since 1995, the Dowling Catholic High School Athletic Hall of Fame has recognized those who have helped make our athletic program strong. Perhaps more importantly, they give our current and future students examples to live by and an added incentive to always strive to be their best.

The task of selecting inductees to the Hall of Fame is difficult indeed, given the large number of talented athletes and coaches who are nominated each year. The selection committee, comprised of both past and present alumni and staff, review the credentials of dozens of nominees each year. Selection of nominees is based on one or a combination of the following criteria:

 Excellence in DCHS/SJA Athletics
 Athletic coaching excellence at DCHS/SJA
 Excellence in athletics, coaching, or related area at the college, amateur, or professional level

Athletic Hall of Fame inductees are an elite group of individuals who embody the work ethic and sportsmanship that is expected of every Dowling Catholic student, athlete, and coach. We are proud to honor their accomplishments.
