Computers: There are 32 computers for use in the media center. All students have access to the card catalog. Computer etiquette will be practiced at all times in the media center. The media center staff wants all students to be safe, respectable and responsible digital citizens. Any misuse of computer programs or etiquette will result in the immediate loss of library computer privileges.
Internet: Students will compile with the Acceptable Use Policy. Students will be assigned a Username and Password. Student Usernames and Passwords will stay the same for their duration at Dowling Catholic High School. Your password should remain private.
Using the Media Center
Non-Seminar
1. During Non-Seminar times the Library Media Center can accommodate two or three classes for library use at one time.
2. There are three sections (Section A, B, & C) that can be reserved in the LMC.
3. Teachers are to be with their students at all times while using the LMC.
How do I sign out the Media Center for use?
1. Signing up for LMC resources is done in GroupWise.
2. If this is your first time to sign out the library you must complete setup on your computer.
3. Written instructions are available in the library.
4. For assistance call or e-mail Megan or Susan.
Top 10 Expectations for Using the Media Center
1. Students will be respectful of others.
2. Students will work quietly and efficiently.
3. Students will allow others to work quietly and efficiently.
4. Students will work alone and sit one at a table.
5. Group collaboration must be approved by the media center staff.
6. No food, drink, candy or gum is permitted in the media center.
7. Students will use appropriate language.
8. Students will properly cite the work of others.
9. Students will follow the copyright laws.
10. Students are to remain seated until dismissal or bell sounds.
Students who choose not to follow these rules will be subjected to the following consequences:
· Sent back to his/her Seminar or to class
· Given a detention
· Office Referral
