Maroons in Health Sciences

Dowling Catholic High School partnering with Mercy Medical Center, the state's largest Catholic hospital and only Catholic health science college, student will recieve unique opportunities to gain a better understanding of the mission-focus of careers in health science from leading healthcare experts and educators in our community.  Juniors will also have an opportunity to interact with representatives from the Polk County Health Department; while seniors will visit Des Moines University to learn more about graduate health education.

Dowling Catholic has also partnered with Kemin Industries.  Kemin is a Dowling Catholic family owned nutritional ingredient manufacturer.  They are committed to improving the health and nutrition of the world with functional products that deliver maximum efficacy through science.  The business includes 14 independent companies serving five industries in over 60 countries.  This would be an excellent opportunity for up to fifteen of our juniors and seniors who are interested in pharmacy or biomedical research - an area of expertise at Kemin.  Enrollment in the Kemin program will be limited to fifteen students.  Students interested in the Kemin program are to register in the Principal's Office.  Current junior will receive first priority.

As a partnership between DCHS and Pioneer, a DuPont Business, students will have a unique opportunity to explore science, technology and engineering with the leading developer and supplier of plant genetics to farmers worldwide.  With a world population expected to reach nearly nine billion by 2050, students will receive unique opportunities to gain a better understanding how Pioneer's scientists use the most innovative technologies to help meet the world's demand for food, feed, fuel and materials while reducing our footprint on the planet.  Enrollment in the Pioneer program will be limited to fifteen students. Students interested in the Pioneer program are to register in the Principal's Office.
